COVID-19 Awareness and Preventive Measures

March 17, 2021
COVID-19 transmission is faster than most people think. It is transferred from one person to another through close contact with an infected person, tiny droplets from sneezing and coughing, or airborne transmission.

A person who has contracted the coronavirus disease can be classified to be symptomatic or asymptomatic. A symptomatic person shows common flu-like symptoms such as dry cough, sore throat, and fever while an asymptomatic person who has tested positive for the virus does not show any symptoms at all.

What Can You Do To Protect Yourself and Other People From COVID-19?

  1. Wear Face Masks - Masks can reduce the transmission of the virus, especially when you or other people cough or sneeze in public or if you are in close contact with an infected person. High quality masks with multiple layers are the most effective.
  2. Wash Hands Frequently - Practice washing your hands for 20 seconds with soap and water. If it is impossible to wash your hands, use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol content.
  3. Social Distancing - When in public, keep your distance from others. Maintain at least 6 feet of distance from other people and avoid crowded places.
  4. Disinfect Your House - To avoid transmission at home, clean with household disinfectants the things that always come in contact with your hands, like doorknobs, toilet handles, and lightswitches.
  5. Stay at Home -  Avoid going outside for non-essential errands or travels.  The best way to protect yourself and others is to just stay at home.
Protecting your health is about more than just preventing Covid-19. Eating right, exercising, and preventive health visits continue to be essential to your well-being. Fear of the virus should not slow you down on your journey to better health.
